I've only played the campaign, as I'm a big sandbox fan. I'd say maybe check out a quick like review or maybe just a blind playthrough for a few mins and see if it's your thing. Still building up it's roster of features and shit, however they do update it very often. Only issue I'd say is that the game is still pretty new, so there's still balancing and stuff in the works.
There are already default formations that work well (infantry, archers, cavalry, horse archers, skirmishers, etc ) The game has amazingly deep difficulty settings as well, if you want to make it more manageable or just impossible you control your character but you can group and command your units however you want. Polearms can be crazy useful, but there's a good situation for everything. The swings and blocking with melee weapons is all controlled by mouse direction. Take a castle, hire some vassals and take over the world, why not? (Managing settlements and cities can be pretty deep and fun too. Even a vassal or knight/lord.Īnd once you're leveled enough and men will follow you more easily, you can really do whatever. You can be a mercenary for any army you want, once you get some reputation. You can become a total bastard (like I did) and start raiding against a kingdom or two, while building relationships with others. So once you're done with the tutorial, you can hire some men and become a trader if you want, there's a big economy to play with, and it's always been a good way to make money Helps you learn and progress a bit faster). I find the addition of some guidance from the story pretty cool though. In the m&b games, you basically make a person and just become some guy in the world (this game has a tutorial and a story but you are still free to just do whatever once you start the game. I really couldn't say it's similar to Monster Hunter World at all, lol!! Maybe a little shadow of war but not really.īut I really love it.
